Brief High School Evacuation
Shortly after the start of school this morning, Pinedale High School was evacuated for a brief period to investigate a potential gas leak. SCSD #1 requested and received the assistance of the Pinedale Fire Department, the Sublette County Sheriff's Office, and Pinedale Natural Gas. The leak was determined to be propane rather than natural gas. The table mounted gas ports that serve the science classrooms at PHS are served by a propane system. The propane system was disconnected and cleared and the high school was ventilated. The building was determined to be safe and students returned to class before 9 AM.
Construction of the SCSD #1 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Fueling Station Underway
Last year the SCSD #1 Board of Trustees committed to using a cleaner, more economic and Wyoming produced fuel for its vehicles. Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is abundant, more affordable, cleaner and it supports Pinedale and Sublette County. Not only will we fuel our buses and vehicles, we plan to make the station available to the public. We believe that we can lead the way to better air quality in Sublette County. CNG vehicles are cleaner ((less CO2, VOCs, NOX, SO2, and have virtually no particulate). We believe it is important to model good environmental stewardship for our students. If our local governments and the energy industry in Sublette County will commit to buying and converting to CNG vehicles, we believe we can have a positive impact on our local air quality. Additionally, we want to be part of building the infrastructure in Wyoming. As more fueling stations become available, more businesses and government agencies will be able to convert their vehicles, again supporting both Wyoming and Sublette County. We hope that both the City of Pinedale and Sublette County will be able to benefit from being part of the growing CNG infrastructure in Wyoming. SCSD #1 would like to thank Encana for their technical expertise and financial support throughout the planning and development of this project.

Sublette County School District #1 is home to four schools. A High School , Middle School , and Elementary School in Pinedale, Wyoming and an Elementary School in Bondurant, Wyoming. We are located in Sublette County with the Wind River Mountains and Bridger-Teton National Forest in our backyard.
